The Road to Messina: More Buildings, River and Pine Trees

Another afternoon work on the gaming table resulted in quite a good view how the table will look like. We worked on the river, the buildings and the trees.

First of all we had a look what we both built during Chrismas holidays. Lemming started to build a stable for an Renaissance villa complex which he will build from the scratch. I am very happy with his design ideas - expect something very nice to come. The colour will be more brilliant than the houses of the village. Lemming has chosen red an a brownish yellow, both colours looked really good on the table. Currently we are looking for horses in 15mm without saddles. So if you have an idea, we would appreciate to hear from you.

I showed him the houses I designed which were moulded and cast bei Rusus. In the last days I glued them together and built some roofes. They turned out really nice, although you see them unpainted on the picture (which is very bad to take pictures of). However there are  more houses to come since I need some one storey buildings as well. the small houses were a quite nice design test by Rusus. They will make their way on our table, too.

After testing the buildings we worked on the creek and on the street. Lemming coloured the creek very colourful in blue, since we decided to exaggerate the colour. After that he used Ziterdes Water Effects to make the creek looking like a mountain creek. Unfortunately the material was not dry when I took the pictures.

I drybrushed the street with some sand colour. The effect was quite nice and realistic.

After a shopping tour for some trees I started to convert fir tree models in some pine tree models with a pair of scissors. I think the trees are looking quite good, feel free to give me some extra feedback on this.

For the main street we decided quite a time ago to plant some avenue trees. We tested that and we liked the effect. On the right flank there will be some apple trees and for sure we need more broad leaved trees on the table in the future.
