Stu from www.tabletop-terrain.com challenged FoW players to paint a 600 points force within three month. I decided to meet this challenge since I really like the idea. See how I started.

For all those who want to join just visit Stu´s page.

I start with some lousy 140 or 150 points. I based and primed an Fallschirm-Panzer-Jäger Zug both for airdrop and ground operations. Both platoons differ in size and options.

I focused first on the ground operations which includes three PAK 36 which I equipped with Stielgranate. In some older FoW Books this grenade is referred to as Steilgranate, which is a little bit funny for german speakers. Stiel means shaft whereas steil means steep. A steep shot with an anti tank gun is for sure somewhat ridiculous.

One model is not fitted with Stielgranate since only in airdrops there are four guns in a platoon. I saw that somebody did drill holes in the grenades to fit them on the models but I decided that I do not care for those tiny grenades if I play airdrop missions to be honest.

The Stielgranate left was glued to an infantry model next to one gun. That looks quite nice.

I modeled two of the three possible transport options. Since there are no Fallschirmjäger motorcycle models I sticked to Kettenkrads and primed the fourth model in the blister as well. I think if there are not many roads on the table a half tracked transport is a great option since the models will sure find some cover on the table. One Kettenkrad has an infantrymodel sitting in the rear. I just had to aputate one leg and remodel it with green stuff. The result was quite good I think. In reality there two men could sit in the rear of a Kettenkrad, although this would be very hard to model with the Battlefront model.

I primed the infantry as usual with Tamiya flat earth whereas the transports were primed with Vallejo air colour Dark Yellow plus white. I inked the models after that picture. I hope to achieve the correct colour with this combination.

When I saw Stu´s first pictures on his DAK Panzer I was very surprised by the effect of his technic. I definitely will test his technic on my tanks since I will paint Dunkelgelb, too. Moreover I will give Tamiya´s Dunkelgelb a chance since I really like the base colour. The Vallejo colour seems a little to greenish to me.
