Italian Olive Farm

My Fallschirmjägerkompanie will be build together with some scenery depicting the italian theatre. My first piece of scenery is an olive farm. It started as an test piece but worked out very nice. The building was build completely from scratch.

My club comrade Lemming from our wargaming club Spieltrieb Frankfurt ended a 15mm scenery building crisis of mine with a tip. He just mentioned that italian roofs are easy to build with corrugated card board. Lemming just carefully scored the card board in order to show the rows of the rows of the roof tiles. This worked out not as good on the pictures as Lemming´s test piece looked like but it was good enough for my first building.

With this technic you can easily build removable and light roofs for 15mm. Thanks a lot for that tip Lemming.

The whole piece was built on a fibreboard using Styrodur for the walls. I used ready cut styrodur in 4mm. Then I cut and scored some bricks, windows and cracks in the surface. On top of this I used PVA and modeling clay to fill in gaps and hide the construction details.

Afterwards I experimented with glue and plaster of paris in order to get a stucco look. I am quite satiesfied with the result. Painting it was fun.

Then I added some self made olive trees. Another club comrade had the idea that we need some olive trees for our upcoming italian gaming table. I searched for olive trees in 15mm but I did not find some, so I had to make them by myself. I used Seeschaum a natural product for trees and leaves from Noch. The wood was modeled with clay and everything was sprayed with thinned glue.

Finally I added two italian propaganda posters at the front wall and some bloomy bushes in the yard. I always think of bloomy gardens when I think of italia therefore my scenery will look quite nice and colorful.
