Hungarian Hussars - Magyar Huszár
These napoleonic models are presents since I will spend my holidays in Hungary. Since they are not for historical maniacs I did some conversions and I painted the uniforms just with an osprey reference.

Hungarian Hussars

Magyar Huszár

The painting scheme was taken from Osprey Hungarian Hussars

The models were designed by the Perrys

The models were slightly converted with green stuff.

The thing on the Tschako was modeled on top of a piece of wire which was glued into a drilled hole.
First of all the brother in law of my girlfriend wanted some models as a present for his friend. I soon decided to paint some of the famous hungarian hussars. 28mm models for hungarian hussars are a problem if you don´t like the fat men and horses made by Front Rank or some of the Foundry models.
What I found was some Perry Hussars for the Brunswick range. So dicided to convert them to hungarian hussars by removing skulls from the uniforms and equipment and to change the details on the hat.
I am sure that some of the napoleonic enthusiasts will have a lot of mistakes to tell but since this was a very short trip to that area I will not listen carefully. Usually I do not understand anything when somebody explains napoleonic uniforms since I do not know the vocabulary.
However. The Perry miniatures are really wonderful but painting all that golden stuff with thousands of details, e.g. the embroidery on the trousers or that one on the sabre tasche (as referred to in the osprey book) is a pain in the ass. I do not understand how guys like Tellus or Decebalus can stand this epoche.
The colour scheme I chose is taken from the Osprey book hungarian Hussars. What I like on that scheme is that it depicts the national colours of Hungary - a really good thing for people which are not wargaming enthusiasts.
I am quite satisfied with the result, giving them away will be very hard for me...
