Crusader mailed spearmen

The first half of my first WAB unit is painted: mailed spearmen. It took me ages to actually paint them, but now I hope that my collection will grow.

I really like multibases, I hope to improve my style in future in order to have more dynamic arrangements.

The pietas is one of my favourite models in the Crusader range. I use it as a blind base for my upcoming regiment bases to replace losses.

Now I am quite happy with my decision to glue them on the magnet bases instead of making removable Multibases. It is far mor pratical I think.

I painted the models on the multibases with removed shields which I painted separatly. I am satisfied with the result, although I hope to improve the whole composition in the next steps.

For sure the command stand with musician and banner needs to be added to the scene but I really like the norman kite shields painted in different patterns. That is what I like on the norman armies a lot.

In 2009 we will start to play WAB during the first Crusade in our Gaming Club, so this is my start for that project.
