As a special detail on our Tactica 2009 Tunesian FoW Gaming Table I created an antique terrain piece.

Model of a Carthagian Mausoleum based on that one in Dougga Tunisia

When we discussed our gaming table project for the Hamburgian Tactica last year Lemming remembered his favourite Scenes in the great "Patton" war movie, when General Patton visited the old carthagian and roman ruins. Our plan was to have some pieces on the table which commemorate the ancient times.

Oliver wanted me to build a specific Mausoleum ruin and he drawed a sketch out of his remembrance. I was very impressed when I found a picture of  the actual thing because everything was mentioned by Oliver, just the width compared to the height was too big. However this impressed me much since Oliver is neither an architect nor an illustrator.

I built this ruin with a material called "PU Hartschaum" in german, which means PU Hard Foam. This can only modelled by cutting, a hot wire will not help here. However it is better than styrodur if you want to create carved details especially stone etc. Since it is harder the buildings are far more solid. Thanks a lot to Samy for this tipp. I bought the material at g-modell. Currently I hope to find another source for the material. If you have an idea, please contact me.

The palm trees were bought on Salute some years ago at a store called Products for Wargamers. They are called Canary island palm trees and fit perfect vor 15mm. The shop owners ignored emails, perhaps you should order via fax and complain about that. Maybe they fixed that in the meanwhile.

I added some Carthagian models made by Corvus Belli. I wanted to show that this is an Mausoleum of an Carthagian officer giving a tribute to past wars.
