101st Airborne - Parachute Mortar Platoon
The Mortar Platoon is the start of my new blog about my 101 Airborne Parachute Rifle Company. Have a look!

Airborne M1942 Uniform with Screaming Eagle Badge and Spade Helmet marking

The Parachute Mortar Platoon

2nd Lieutenant with his men

Platoon markings on the base edge. White for the US Rifle Company and black for the US Parachute Rifle Company. The Platoon numbers are from the Afrika-Book. The markings help a lot when you play a scenraio where you mix a lot of platoons on the board like "Death from above".

The Mortar Platoon

I was inspired by Evans article about painting US Airborne Uniforms. You can read the article here.
I tried my version of the M1942 uniform. But for the basecoat of the uniform I used Vallejo Game Color Cobra Leather.
Because I don't want to paint a second US infantry company, I use the same models for my US Rifle Company. On the pictures above you can see both versions of the platoon. The Parachute Mortar Platoon has the Screaming Eagle badge on the left shoulder and the spade symbol for Easy Company on the helmets. I was pretty much inspired by the television series "Band of Brothers". ;)
For basing I used a lot of different foliage of Noch and Woodland Scenics. I want to create a gaming table with a lot of Bocage hedges and wanted to display such terrain on the bases, too.
I hope you like my painting scheme. In later blog posts I will show you the rest of my US models.
Greetings
Tim
